It is a State Foundation university established by the Cyprus Science Foundation and started to operate in 1990. Since the first year of its establishment by the Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK), all its departments have been equivalent.

With its excellent infrastructure and technological equipment, LAU is the educational torch of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the west.

As a non-profit university, the European University of Lefke offers a wide range of scholarship opportunities that have become a great incentive for students.
The EUL has decided to grant scholarships starting from 70% that is offered exclusively to the international freshman students who choose to enrol to the University. Students need to apply to the International Office for the availability and the requirements of the scholarships.
Undergraduate degree students who have studied at least two semesters at our university and have a term GPA of 3.50 and a cumulative CGPA of 3.00 and above are rewarded in the next academic semester within the framework of the scholarship regulations, depending on their success average.
Apart from the academic scholarships offered to students there are also sports & culture scholarships. These scholarships might be granted depending on students’ success in sports / culture field chosen, on students’ or team’s sports or culture achievements attained nationally and internationally (national & international competitions, tournaments, matches etc.).
Most European university of lefke (EUL’s) students live in EUL’s residence halls, which are just walking distance away from the place of study.
The residence halls offer a safe and good value accommodation with fellow students and are great places to make instant friends. They are comfortable and peaceful and contribute to a safe environment.
The accommodation dormitories for students cost between 1,520 euro to 3,980 euro per academic year. These dormitories include a single plus, double plus, triple, triple with meals and a double plus with meals respectively.
